Meet your new Region E Directors from our very own Chapter B2

Hello, We are Clayton & Lynda Alcorn.  We were high school sweethearts. Both of us were born and raised in Sedalia, Missouri.  We have been married forty-seven years, and have two children, Danny and Denise.  We have five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Clayton retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber on July 1, 2001, as owner manager after thirty-two years.  At the present, he has a part-time job as Maintenance Supervisor for Furnell Companies. I am a LPN and worked many years for Eldenburg Family Practice as Office Charge Nurse before retiring in 2002.

Clayton had a motorcycle when we first met at age 15.  He has always loved motorcycling.  I was a little more reserved about motorcycles.  Over the years, I started to enjoy riding with Clayton.  In August, 1994, we bought a burgundy 1200 Gold Wing.  That is when our lives changed.  We joined GWRRA so we could get this really neat magazine about Gold Wings.  Little did we know the fun we would have riding all over the USA or the friends we would meet; or that we would have such a terrific extended family. Since then we have had several new Gold Wings.  We currently ride a 2005 yellow 1800 trike.

There wasn’t a GWRRA chapter in our area, so Clayton and I chartered Chapter B2.  We had no idea how much our chapter family would mean to us.  We were the first Chapter Directors and Missouri’s First Senior Chapter Directors.  We are honored to be chosen our chapter’s first Couple of the Year in 1997.  We were selected chapter Couple of the Year again in 2005, District Couple of the Year 2006-2007 and Region E Couple of the Year 2007-2008.  We are currently our Chapter’s Treasurer and Recruiter (having recruited 56 members). Clayton and I are both senior level 4.  We are also the Region E Assistant Directors

We are proud to be called Mom and Dad by our B2 family.

NEWS FROM THE WHITE HOUSE:
IN THE OZARKS. We are getting ready for B2’s Magic Dragon Ride, April 24, 10:00 am to 3:00 p.m. What is the Magic Dragon? If you take a bird’s eye view of the Lake of the Ozarks, with a little imagination, it looks like a dragon. Of course, if you spend time at the Lake of the Ozarks, it is magical; therefore the “Magic Dragon”. We will be meeting at the Hunter Civic Center in Ver-sailles and then having guided tours around the “Magic Dragon”, with a special lunch stop provided along the route. Be sure and don’t let the magic dragon eat your lunch!!!!!
The cost will be $10.00 per person and will include your tour and lunch. After the ride, we will again meet at the Hunter Civic
Center for the draw-ing of the 50/50 prizes.
The dogwood trees will probably still be blooming and the roads have hills and curves. It will be a delightful ride through the Ozarks. Be sure and join us.
JOIN IN THE FUN!!

LEADERSHIP TRAINING (LTD)
Hello from your LTD coordina-tor for Chapter B2.
Last month at the chapter meet-ing we learned about listening skills. I was very pleased that almost every one was in the good listening skills and sev-eral were in the excellent skills.
This month we will be talking about communication skills.
Maybe we have turned the cor-ner. It has been a long winter, and I hope everyone has had a chance to get their bikes in shape for the up coming sea-son. We hear about safety and what to watch out for. But as the season approaches we also need to review the importance of being mentally prepared also. When you start out don’t take those rides like you do at the end of the season. You have to become bike wary again.
As the riding season is ap-proaching I will start going through different ways to help get your mind ready for what we may have stored away for the winter.
Once again to use our Region Couples ex-pression: Participate. Until next month, be safe, ride alert, and be prepared for the unexpected. Just remember TEAM (Together Every-one Accomplishes More) Mike DeGraff
